12 Days, 8 New Recipes, 5+ New Ingredients

Since the end of March, I've been on a mission to bring healthier and more diverse foods into my home. We're going organic, and we're cooking more frequently than ever! Here is a sampling of what my partner and I have been discovering, eating, and enjoying over the past 12 days. Astericks indicate new-to-us foods.

From my IIN Healthy Cooking DVD:
  1. Collard Greens* Saute with Daikon Radish*
....Collard greens have a strong taste that radish or herbs help tame. Your body will tell you how healthy this veggie is!
  2. Carrot Burdock* Strengthener
....Good woody, earthy taste; possibly not enough to last 'til lunch on its own
  3. Quinoa* with Bay Leaf Infusion
....Liked the quinoa better tonight, cooked in chicken stock!
  4. Red Lentils* with Baby Spinach and Lemon Juice
    ....YUMMY! Easy! Filling!
  5. White Beans with Sage
....I liked it, my partner did not - he doesn't like tomatoes =)

  6. From Another IIN-provided collection of recipes I have:
  7. Easy Pork Chops
....Much like Mom used to make. =)

  8. From Eat Fat, Lose Fat by Sally Fallon
  9. Coconut Almond Cookies
....With Almond meal*, arrowroot flour* and Sucanat*. Crumbly but tasty!!!
  10. Coconut-Almond Kisses
....I made them less almond, more chocolaty. I made them 3 times last week, they are so good!

I also took a metabolic-diet-type questionnaire as part of my classwork, which seems to validate my inherent self-knowledge that I cannot subsist on a diet of seeds and berries. Nope, the ancestors whose genes are manifest in me ate meat! As I learn more about this questionnaire, I will discuss it and tell you where to find it. =)
