Now that I've eliminated most of the most harmful substances that I could from my diet, and my digestion has normalized, I've been paying a lot of attention to what I eat and the affects that foods have on my body, including alcohol. Here are my initial learnings:
Wine makes me retain lots of water - even just a glass or 2! The effect is more pronounced when the wine is not consumed with a solid food. When I have a glass of wine at a social occasion 2 days in a row, I might gain 3-5 pounds in (hopefully mostly) water, and the effect may take a WEEK to wear off.
Beer (dark or wheat, not rice beer/cheap brands like Bud) is definitely a mild diuretic. It can be consumed in moderation and not effect my weight longer than a day, as long as I keep myself hydrated and eat/consume smartly.
I want to be sure I remember this stuff. It's interesting! Does alcohol affect any of you similarly or differently?
